Albuen Diary - why !
To live and work at a campsite... it’s a lifestyle. And I think you have to be a little crazy to love it... and this I’m now admitting.... -  I am perhaps a little crazy.
This is now the 4. season I’m the owner of Albuen Strand Camping (ASC). I have meet a lot of peopel from denmark and foreign countries, and it have given me many funny and crazy experinses. Everyone has a story to tell. Some peopel have been visiting all through the seasons I have been the owner of ASC. I know their children, I hear their stories. Some peopel go straight to my heart, and becomes friends of me, other just sleep here for one night, and I forget about them... but stories and experinces there has been a lot off.
I am a girl, and many, (especially menn), will for sure sign a dokument that says, girls talk too much......, I think I also talk too much.... but I like to talk to peopel, to hear their stories, and... to pass the stories. A german man, Dirk, is one of the peopel I have meet here at ASC. A real german,... as we danish, or at least I, see the picture of a real german... the barbecue is on, the sausages is next too, the beer is near, the dog is by the feet, and the apron is offcourse with the local footballteam (Shalke04). He has become a dear friend. I think he loves this place just as much as I do, and when he speak about ASC, this is his 2. home. I have talked a lot to Dirk, told him many of the funny stories I have experince at the camp... and in fact it’s him, who have told me several times to write all these stories at the webpage. This I will now try, to tell into cyberspace, about everydaylife at a campsite.

The sun is always shining at Albuen.
Everyone there has visit ASC, have at some time hear me say these words – The sun is always shining at Albuen – and it does shine every day... I stand by my words. I see the sun everyday here at Albuen   It might be only for a few minutes, but I see the sun... EVERY DAY..!!!
Why and what it is that happends, I dont know. If it’s because we’re so near to the water, because of the dike or just because we’re here at the southsea island ???? I dont know,... but the sun, I see it every day !!! I have said that so often, that my season-campists + some of the tourist who comes here often, is now ”watching me”. In fact, i think they now want to catch me in a day without sun at Albuen.
Also this Withsun Saturday... The tradition for Withsun Saturday is the yearly fishing competition. The day started as usual at Withsun Saturday morning, with bread, coffee and liquir to the early starters of fishingmenn, but but but then came the rain. All day long it has been cloudy and raining, a real boring weather..  At the finish of the fishingcompetition at 4 pm. it was still  a very wett and boring weather, but disregard the rain, a lot of fish had been catched... seaforrel, garfish(green bone) and flatfish, but the rain and the clouds, they were still here... and it did’nt seem to be any changes in the weather... oh oh... today, perhaps may be the day, where I have to eat my words. – the sun is always shining at Albuen – buuutttttt... I'm a optimistish soul, and the day is’nt over yet, but I have to admit, yes ok, today my words will fall to the ground... – Now its evening, and I have just been to the beach. There I have taken a picture of the most beautifull sundown, ... cause here at Albuen the weather was changing at the evening, the rain and clouds has gone away, and I still stand by my words – I see the sun every day here at Albuen.

Fishing.
I have at some time heard that the coast of Albuen is told to be the 3. best fishingcoast in denmark... some fishingmagazine should have told so... I have not seen or read this fishingmagazine myself, but I get a lot of visit from fishingmenn here at ASC. The fishingclub from Roskilde area, they come here one time a year, 6-7 collegs who spend a week in my cabins... and go fishing... at the entire coast at west lolland, and when they are back in the cabins, they have joy with good eating and making flyes for fishing. I know they participate in fishingcompetitions over the entire country, and every time I think, what a fine time to spend their free time,... by fishing. - Leif and Marie come here every spring with the caravan. The caravan they leave here at the camp for 4-5 weeks and then they come in the weekends... and then Leif go fishing. John is also a man who loves to fish, it takes only a few minutes from john has parked the caravan, until he is on his way to the beach in his green fishingtrousers, ... and everytime John catches fish.... almost everytime... The favorit fishing spot is a few hundreds meters walk out at the beach, just where it starts to turn... not after the turn, and not closer to the P-place, but just excatly there, where the beach is turning. This is the place to fish for John. This excatly place, I have now renamed to Johns Corner, it makes it so much easyer to explain to the other fishingmenn, where the fish stands. Because here John is almost evertime catching fish... if its allowed to talk and tell about the good fishingplaces, I dont know, but I hope that naming the place after John, he will forgive me for telling. Ole also do a lot of fishing together with the kids, but Ole like to drive to the windmill area, because this is the place for Ole to catch the fish.... the beach and Johns Corner, there are no fish, so say Ole.
My german friend Dirk, is also fishing everytime he is visiting, in his green trousers from the beach or just from the P-area. Everytime he goes to the beach to fish he tell me these words – tonight we eat fish – but I have to say, only one time I have seen fish catched by Dirk... 34 garfish(greenbone), but that was one of those days, where everyone who was fishing, was catching a lot of fish... and Dirk’s fishingbox is not for newbeginners, I have seen the box. Dubbel size of all other fishingboxes and full of equipment, but fish... I dont know if he forgets to put on hooks ???.. but all those peopel I see fishing here at Albuen, the have one thing in common. They all enjoy their fishingtrips... when they are standing in another world, in the shadows from the windmills, at the P-area, or in their green trouser out in the water... then they all have one thing in commen.... to catch that fish..

MiniZOO
When I bought Albuen Strand Camping 3 years ago, I also got 4 goats in the deal... those 4 goats have now turn into a miniZoo. Now I have had goats, rabbits, minipigs, ducks, horses and chickens. The garden for the ziegen is now 3 times as big, I have build a stabel for the horses and my big field is now grass with fence around – Has someone already guess this ??? I have a teenage daughter... Julie.
And Julie loves animals. All the animals has their own names and julie remember all the names and she can play music on the chickens... can you believe !! when the chickens sits at their ”stock” in the stabel at night, Julie touches them and they make different sounds, this is how Julie play music on her chickens..!!! At this moment  I have 6 ziegen, 2 horses, 6 chickens and 16 rabbits... the 2 ducks, fine white moskus-ducks, I was given last summer, become over summer to 15 ducks. 13 sweet small yellow ducklings was swimming around in the top of a bucket all through summer. They were so small the ducklings that they could go through the little holes in the fence and go on visit to the campers... and who dont like visit from 13 little yellow ducklings ??? the duckling got a lot of bread and over winter they grow up to be big fat white ducks. But ducks makes a lot of mess. It was’nt very funny when Sofie visit the zoo this spring, of course there is some goat-shit, but a zoo full of duck shit is not very nice for Sofie’s mom to get into the caravan. ... So I have to call Goat-Peter.. he is the one I buy my animals from, and he is the one who gets them back, when there is too much animals. So Goat-Peter came this spring and took all the white ducks. He also got all my fine male-rabbits... this year I dont want any rabbit-babies. !!! I remember all to well last year, how quickly 4 sweet rabbit-babies, become a big-commune and then they run off, the rabbits, and they are not easy to catch again... last winter 3 rabbits was living in the free, under my cabins, and in earthcaves they have dig in the fields.... I was not popular with my famer-nabourghs... 2 of the rabbits, I cought, but the last one who was living under a cabin, I have to give up... in the eastern I put a price for dkr 100,- to the kids at the campsite – CATCH THE RABBIT -  4 smart kids spend their entire easterholliday on rabbithunting, and they got the rabbit. ... but even if Goat-Peter took all the male-rabbits, there went only 4 days, then come the first new rabbitbabies and after 8 days... the next rabbitbabies... but now I have rebuild the rabbit-fenster, a lot taller... I want to make sure they dont get out... and all the kids who tells me how sweet the rabbits are, I offer – for free – to get 2 rabbitkids with them home from the holliday... Line has got 2 rabbitkids, a white one and a brown one og she has got her grandpa to build a fine fenster to the rabbits and Line has painted the fenster herself... Line is very happy for her rabbitkids, and I’m happy too.... now I’m waiting for my new goat-babies, I rented a male goat of Goat-Peter this spring... and one of the horses is also waiting a baby... so my miniZoo, I think soon I have to call it a maxiZoo....

Mr. Crocodille Dundee.
At the camp I get visit from many different nationalities. Most peopel from Germany, Nederland, Sweden and Norway... Copenhagen and Jutland.. but also peopel from UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Schwitzerland, Austia and Poland is often guest here at the camp, even an american lived her for more than a month... but a guest from Down Under, Australia, that I would never have guessed.  When a autocamper drives into my parking area, then it’s almost everytime guests from foreign countryes, also this autocamper. Into my reception enters Mr. Crocodille Dundee... at first I didnt think about, but when I was booking in Mr. C.D. in my computer, the zipcode from the country, told me, here was a guest from australia... could this be right ??? I had to ask Mr. C.D. if he was realy from Australia.... yes, my first day in Scanidnavia, 1½ year in europe, and now I want to see this country, Scandinavia.... oh ja, bulls eye, I could here at the accent in  the language, here was Mr. C.D. himself, from Down Under. .... buuuttttt, I had to correct him, and tell, this was not his first day in the country Scandinavia... but Denmark... we are still a selfdepend country, a kingdom, we have our own flag, we are not a part of Sweden or Norway... but DENMARK... Mr. C.D. got a place at the camp, and when evening come and I could close the door to the reception, I simply had to take control of my inquisitiveness... how do a Australian mann, end up in Denmark,... in a autocamper ??? sooo with a my inquisitiviti, and fearless as I am, I invited myself into the Australien autocamper to visit Mr. Crocodille Dundee.  ...2 years ago he quit his job, sold the house, bought a autocamper and left home... His first plan was  6 month in Europe and then 6 month in USA... now he had been travelling in Europe for 1½ year, he had seen and experince a lot of, and wanted to see the land Scandinavia in top of Europa, before the trip took him to USA... I told him about DENMARK, the woods in Sweden and the high hills in Norway... 3 countries, Mr. Crocodille Dundee, 3 countries... I had a real nice evening in the company of  Mr. C.D.. .. and think about this, ..just to travel, see and experince... Fantastic... and he even found my small camp, thats incredibel.... sometimes I do think of Mr. C.D.  Has he finish his travelling, .. is he back at home again, ...home Down Under ...

What’s to eat ???
At the camp there is everday busy, a lot to do, but also many, short, brakes during the day... as usual too short to start cooking, too short to start the barbeque, too short to fix the salad... so dinner, it’s often pizza from the city.... at 22.00.... and then I’m very hungry !!!.... It have give me some (not few) kilos the first years... and those kind of kilos, that I as a girl, absolutely dont like.  - But now I have the solution.... my son, Daniel, learned it very quickly, ...when mom dont have time to cook... he use his nose, take a little walk around the camp... just around dinnertime, and ahhhh it smells sooooo good, from so many places...... what’s to eat today, ...and where ??? - Imagine, if I dare to do so !!! Daniel dare !!!, he gets good cooking, hot cooking, almost every day... my mom, dont have time to cook, he says, and then Daniel gets good eating... just following his nose... - Imagine if i dare to do so ???... I have the Danish, the German, the Italian, the French KITCHEN,  kitchen from almost around the world, right in front of my nose..... Imagine if I dare to do, just like Daniel.... :-))

2 bread, the daily news and a morning beer.
Every morning I start the Bake off oven around 6 o’clock and then I have to make bread, a lot of bread... into the oven I put frozen bread and out comes the wonderfull smellling bread. All alone I’m there.. baking... while I’m thinking of all my guest who can sleep long... at winter I want to sleep long... very long... buutttt one person is also up early, Preben, while I’m doing the bakery, Preben is just arund the small lake, checking all the ducks, is anyone missing ? and then 10 minutes at the bench by the sea. Which ships are sailing by today... a few minutes to 8, Preben make my flag go to the top, and he is every day the first mann in the shop.  2 bread, the daily news and a morning beer... every day the same... and when all the other morningfresh campers have collect their bread, its time for me to get my coffee... and then I sit outside with Preben. I have my coffee, Preben has his morning beer, we speak about all, makes the world go around, comment on the daily news and tell stories, and Preben have a lot of stories... all life he have been living his life, up and down. Today he is 75. He is the kind of mann who cant sit still, .... when I get old, when time comes, then I shall do this and this, so say many, but not Preben... He has been living every day, full, made his choises in life, took his chances in life.....  ... I love my mornings with Preben.

A summer full of rain..
What a summer... where did it go, this summer 2007 ??? High-season is ended and I have to think about what went well, what went bad, what can I do better for next season ??? My first issue = summer weather...  How do I order 6 weeks with sunshine, blue sky, 25 degrees, and light wind from west and a little bit of rain during night, so the grass doesn’t turn into yellow in beginning of July... Even the best intentions and my everlasting optimistic soul can’t solve this problem. To run a campsite which is placed directly under the sky - day and night -, is not so easy, when the God of the weather isn’t kind to me.   Don Ø did something: He installed a roof to pull on and off the stadium of FCK.... but….., 20 acres under the roof ?? ... No, this is too much, even for me, and what about the sun and the heat ???. Well, I’m not known for complaining too much, and don’t want to start to be... The heat has been here last summer, there was just not enough sun to enjoy the beach. And after all, I’m lucky that the campsite is build on old sea-area, the rain disappears within the ground just as quickly as it comes from the heaven. I have no problems with mud at the camp. I don't have to use a tractor to bring the caravans in and out. My area is plain and dry, only the road can collect some water now and then...  and the camping people are also tough people. There is no bad weather, only wrong outfit, so say most of my guests, although I do believe that many would have loved to change the rubber boots and umbrellas with their bikini and sun crème last summer. My guests have been sitting in their tents and in the cabins and played games, and when the sun has been shining from above for a few minutes... (Oh yes I still stand to my words, I have seen the sun every day J ) ...then my guests run out and have enjoyed the few minutes of sun. But it is strange to have a full campsite, high season, strange to know here are around 6-700 people at the camp, but the sound of life and fun which is usual at the camp has  been missing last year. It has been like a ghost-camping. How can I do this better this year ??? Well.. I guess all I can do is to hope and dream of a summer, full of sunshine in 2008.
But as I already said: I do have an optimistic soul and I believe also in my tough guests – and a lot of them will return…

Summer fun
Every summer I arrange Summer fun-evenings at Albuen. I do wish to develop and make new stuff at the camp every year, but one thing I do not dare to change... John and Kenneth... if I do, I’m sure someone would capture my head....
John and Kenneth are those whom entertain at my karaoke evenings... John is like Richard Ragnwald and Kenneth are like the very charming Robbie Williams, and they sing just like these... John knows all the good old Danish songs and the charming Kenneth can sing Robbie’s Angel so well that my skin freeze and my heart starts beating, very fast ...and I’m in love....
be sure...
Those 2 guys can if any make the campers go party, and even if most campers are rather shy in the beginning of the evening, then they all sing, and I do mean ALL, before the evening is ended... most of the campers know, that if they don’t sing, then their Campingmutter starts to sing FCK football songs... and I can’t sing, absolutely can’t sing, ... so within a short time all the campers wolentier to sing :-)
Most of the campers enjoy the singing, with all the fun and party it is, and they let go, completely... others really take it seriously... this are normally the campers from Jutland... and some can really sing... like Brian from Køge, mannnnnn that man could sing... American idol, Brian, American idol..!!!!...
As the night comes, even Germans can sing along the Old Danish slagermusic...  oh yeah, John and Kenneth can make the party go on....
The kids also like to sing and dance... Campus, the big beaver, usually comes by and do the boogie woogie dance with the children... then John and Kenneth have a little break while Campus is dancing.... but the funniest is yet to come, later in the evening, Campus join us again, and now it’s time for the adult to dance.... and for me, the campingmutter of Albuen, this is absolutely the biggest laugh of the year, to see 50 adults or more dancing around to child music with a big beaver.....
:-)
Sooooooooo my summerfun-evenings I do not dare to change,.... a summer evening, with happy tourist’s, good entertainment, music and dance, cold beers, hot popcorn, and at last but not at least John and Kenneth... These evenings have become a part of the Albuen spirit...
